Come usare il Simple Wifi RS232 modem con il computer HAL9000?
Questa è la domanda che mi viene fatta più spesso: vorrei usare il tuo modem su questo computer, come posso fare? E’ difficile dare sempre una risposta: ogni computer ha le sue caratteristiche e peculiarità, molti non hanno nemmeno una porta seriale standard!

Se lo usate su un computer che non è presente mandatemi che software avete usato e come avete fatto, lo inserirò nella lista (in ordine alfabetico). Tenete presente che, dove c’è una porta seriale RS232, il modem funziona sempre.
Ho ricevuto messaggi che è stato usato su tantissimi computer. Le istruzioni e i video qui inseriti sono solo alcuni!

Apple II GS (ma anche Macintosh 68k e IIc+)
L’Apple II GS, i Macintosh 68k e IIc+ hanno già la seriale presente. Usa però un connettore Mini DIN-8, è quindi necessario un cavo seriale apposito (vedi schema sotto il video). Per i software sull’Apple II solitamente uso Proterm 3.1, sui Mac “Mac Cincy”.

SCC’s /DTR output.

2 HSKi Handshake input or external clock. Received
inverted at SCC’s /CTS and /TRxC inputs.
Vih = 0.2V; Vil = -0.2V; Ri = 12K ohms
3 TxD- Transmit data (inverted). Driven inverted
from SCC’s TxD output; tri-stated when SCC’s
/RTS is not asserted.
Voh = 3.6V; Vol = -3.6V; Rl = 450 ohms
4 GND Signal ground. Connected to logic and
chassis ground.
5 RxD- Receive data (inverted). Received inverted
at SCC’s RxD input.

Commodore AMIGA
Tutti i computer Amiga hanno una seriale DB25 standard. Basta quindi collegare il modem e caricare un programma di terminale per collegarsi (ad esempio NCOMM).
